Aravan Evi is a family Boutique Hotel placed in Ayvali’s village. Our Hotel is just 10-minute from the town of Urgup by car.
Aravan Evi built in 2002 and was initially familiar with its outstanding restaurant and was serving its home-made foods to its quests. Vegetarians are also not forgotten and catered for. We earned an unique reputation thanks to our tandir style dishes and we were defined in Conde Nast and Lonely Planet.
Aravan Evi has been made by natural stones of Cappadocia and also handcrafted. Our humble but growing hotel has five bedrooms with bathrooms that were fully marbled. The rooms were decorated beautifully. When will step out of the hotel you will be in few minutes in a hiking trail and near to a beautiful stream.
Village is still intact underground city is not excavated. There is an early istian Byzantine church that contains frescoes could be seen.

The Best Small Towns and Villages in Turkey

Another historical place to be visit is Roman Tombs area and a nearby place underground city which can be found in Mazikoy. Among all, most exciting place is Goreme Open Air Museum with no doubt. You can see here beautiful Fairy Chimneys and some Underground Cities which people used to hide for a long time ago. Underground Cities are going really far below so be ready for cold here. Goreme is aproximately 15 minutes from Ayvali Village and the best way to watch this beauty is renting a hot air balloon. Balloon trips are really economic but the view is priceless.

Cappadocia is famous for Fairy Chimneys that are carved out of volcanic rocks. You can see the same architecture in Ayvali also, there are some caves and some stone houses that are built out of tufa layer. Tufa layer is some kind of soft stone which occures by a volcanic activity. Volcanic stones found in Cappadocia occurred by Erciyes Mountain´s volcanic activities a long time ago. Most of villagers, who live in Ayvali Village, make a living by farming. These farmers produce apricots, potatoes, grapes mostly. You can still see the traditional life here which will show you women still go to get water from fountains with pitches, and do embroidery with traditional patterns. Men are good stone masons here and they are well known in this area. They even go to different towns to work in this area.
Population & Administration
Around one thousand people nowadays live in the center place of the Ayvali village. An elected Mayor runs this village´s administrative works and Mayor works in this area for 4 years. Every 4 years elections are being made and the ed Mayor will be in charge next 4 years. The mayor is responsible for registration of births and sometimes if needed registering marriages as well. But this is not a must, most administrative works are done in Urgup, anyway.
Village has its own primary school wich provides 8 years compulsory education. According to Turkiye laws, each person has to complete primary school, so the village has a primary school for their own children. But as high school is not a must, children who finish primary school are going to Urgup for high school if they intend to continue their educational life. There is not a university around here yet, so students go to bigger cities such as Kayseri, Ankara, Istanbul if they aim to have an academic life.
